New! Samsung notices: memory chips increase by double digits!

According to the latest news, major major manufacturers are currently intensively bargaining with module manufacturers for the second quarter contract prices. According to channel vendors, major suppliers including Samsung have notified to increase the contract prices of DRAM and NAND Flash in the next quarter, with double-digit increases!

Since the beginning of 2020, DRAM prices have continued to rise. Since the power failure at the Samsung factory in early January and the fire at the Toshiba factory, the two companies have stated that they have basically no impact on production, but the global memory chip market still seems to have beaten chicken blood, and the spot prices of memory and SSD hard drives have risen. Prices rose as much as 30% in January.

It is said that the reason for the price increase is that the major mainland manufacturers in China stopped production and shipments were not smooth, and the channel vendor's inventory decreased; on the other hand, the epidemic impacted the global economy, and the memory market benefited from the epidemic, which drove the home economy to a great extent. Business, online games, and e-sports games have grown against the trend, and the three major memory requirements in the first quarter are still strong. Among them, due to the expansion of server construction in the data center, the demand for DRAM and NAND Flash for server use has increased.

According to industry news, the inventory levels of three major DRAM factories including Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron have been reduced to four to six weeks. In addition, the number of DRAM bits on new 5G mobile phones has increased sharply. Price increases; NAND Flash supply will be tighter in the second half of the year.

According to news on March 11, according to foreign media reports, the contract prices of NAND flash memory and DRAM memory are expected to increase by double digits in the second quarter of this year.

Contract prices for NAND flash and DRAM memory rose in the second quarter, mainly due to increased demand. Foreign media pointed out in the report that the increase in the contract price of storage chips is driven by the continued growth of demand, including the growth of data center, enterprise-level solid state drives and other applications.

If the price of memory chips is expected to rise by double digits in the second quarter, it will also boost the revenue of related manufacturers such as Samsung, Micron, and Hynix.
